MAMDT’s mission is to train confident designers who are capable of ascribing meaning to our constantly changing world and, in collaboration with others, translating their knowledge into meaningful designs by reflecting on the role of design and the designer.
We believe in the power of designing new solutions and applications based on an artistic foundation.
The following four important steps are integral to MAMDT designers’ design practices:
- Identify: How does the world work?
- Understand: What role do design, art and technology play?
- Translate: What does this mean for the role played by design and designer?
- Apply: How do you apply this to your own design practice?
MAMDT designers view these steps not as a sequence but as an integrated flowing whole: they converge and influence one another. Asking these questions becomes second nature to MAMDT designers. The questions are just as important as the answers, in the same way that the design process is just as important as the final result.
